This week, New York City will introduce the football legends of tomorrow during the 2013 NFL Draft at Radio City Music Hall. To kickoff the 1^st day of NFL Draft, Fair Game Inc, The Circle LLC, and Southern Hospitality present The Official Draft Viewing Party for Tyrann Mathieu taking place on Thursday, April 25rd from 7-11pm at Southern Hospitality on 645 9th Ave.  This high profiled viewing party will allow sports fans to enjoy the draft experience from Southern Hospitality, while ESPN will be filming live on location to view his response to being picked. Handpicked guests including Top NFL Draft picks, Super Bowl Champions, NFL veterans, invited influencers, corporate and entertainment industry elite. 

In 2011 Tyrann Mathieu’s was a Heisman trophy finalist and a few months later he was dismissed from LSU for his admitted public struggles with substance abuse, Thursday April 25^th, 2013 starts his official comeback story. Everyone deserves a second chance and after a year of being clean Mathieu will get his chance on Draft Night 2013. With mentors like Deion Sanders, LSU alumni Patrick Peterson and Cory Webster and friends from the likes of Adrian Peterson and Darelle Revis, it’s understandable why Tyrann has cleaned up his act.

Tyrann’s Private Celebrity Viewing Party will have celebs in attendance like boxer Zab Judah, who will be fighting this Saturday at the Barclays Center vs. Danny Garcia. Along with him, Patrick Peterson (Arizona Cardinals), Cory Webster (New York Giants), Terrell Thomas (New York Giants) and many others.

The Circle LLC is producing Celebrity Bowl For Awareness at Frames Bowling Lounge in NYC. The event will be hosted by Tina Charles. The Circle LLC, Nolcha Fashion Week and TR Luxury, combined efforts and networks to put together a memorable evening at Yotel hotel in New York city. Many NBA and NFL athletes were in the building, which helped set off the event. This was the second Annual NBA Draft Watch Experience.

Some of the top executives from the sports, music and fashion industry gathered to network, mingle and watch the NBA draft in Yotel’s state of the art suites. This event was sponsored by 1800 Tequila and Karako Suits.

Tonight’s Official NBA Draft party will be at RDV in the Meat Packing district. This event will be hosted by Rookie of The Year and former number 1 pick, Kyrie Irving. This will be a star-studded event and will be the official party for the NBA Draft Watch Party currently going on at the Yotel Hotel.

Since LeBron James has won his first title with the Miami Heat last Thursday, much of the criticism has been lifted off of his shoulders. It took him 8 seasons to finally do it and he can finally take his name off the long list of elite NBA players that haven’t reached this milestone. One player in particular that is arguably the next elite player expected to win an NBA title is Carmelo Anthony.

Anthony, coming into his third season with the Knicks next season, is next on the radar for winning an NBA title. At the unveiling of his wax statue at Madame Tussauds in Times Square on Tuesday, Anthony told a Daily News reporter that his time to win a championship is coming and whether it is this year or the next year the Knicks will win an NBA championship.

This statement is reminiscent of the infamous promise LeBron James told the Miami Heat crowd almost two years ago. Although Anthony’s promise was not as controversial as James’, promising a championship in the city of New York is as big as adding two or more superstars to your roster. Playing in the biggest market in sports, Anthony, along with Amar’e Stoudemire, are expected to bring a championship to the city of New York, which has been waiting for an NBA title for nearly 40 years.

The summer of 2010, which became known as the summer of LeBron, saw the Knicks try their hardest to get LeBron James and another superstar to their roster in order to bring the NBA title to New York. Their hard work freeing up cap space that summer only landed Stoudemire and a questionable trade later in the season that saw the Knicks give up 7 players for Anthony. With these two paired together along with a strong supporting cast the Knicks had high hopes in competing for an NBA title. This wasn’t the case however.

The Knicks saw themselves exit the first round twice, first swept by the Boston Celtics in the 2011 playoffs and recently to the Miami Heat. There was some hope for Anthony and the Knicks in the series against the Heat. Down 3-0 the Knicks, behind Anthony’s 41points, were able to force a Game 5 in Miami. After another disappointing exit in the playoffs and the Heat winning it all the pressure seems to be on Anthony and the Knicks.

Anthony has been in the NBA for 9 seasons and is already considered as one of the best players and prolific scorers in the league today. He has made the playoffs in every one of the seasons he has been in the NBA but has always come short. The closest he’s been was in the 2009 Western Conference Finals where the Denver Nuggets lost to the Los Angeles Lakers 4 games to 2.

Although the Knicks faithful are always behind their team they are hungry for an NBA title. The last two efforts, 1994 and 1999, the Knicks came up short only prolonging the wait for the NBA title to come to New York City. Anthony seemed to be the last piece to the puzzle for the Knicks to win an NBA title but we have yet to see this happen.

Anthony is on the list of the NBA elite that have yet to win a title. Players such as Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Derrick Rose, Steve Nash, and Kevin Durant have yet win an NBA title but continuously push out impressive seasons.

Anthony is at the top of this list because he plays in New York and he is arguably the best player in the NBA after LeBron James. Will he be added to the list of NBA greats that never won a title such as Reggie Miller, Karl Malone, and Allen Iverson? Or will the next two years truly be the time for Anthony and the Knicks to bring the title to New York? No one knows but one thing is for sure, if Anthony fails to produce a championship he will hear it from the fans in New York and the fans in the sports world.

It took him 9 NBA seasons and 3 League MVP’s but LeBron James has finally did it. Adding to his collection of hardware are the NBA Finals MVP trophy and the prestigious NBA championship ring that so many players set their sights on every season. A season that was preceded by a long lockout and full of injuries throughout the season due to lack of training camps, James and the Miami Heat were able to keep their promise alive.

After two long years of mishaps, struggles, and embarrassment LeBron James can finally cement his spot on top of the basketball world at the moment. Game 5 of the NBA Finals had LeBron James closing out the series in true MVP fashion. James ended the night earning himself a triple double with 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists. Thursday night was the first triple double LeBron had for the entire 2011-2012 season, making that night so much more special.

Although this was James’ night, he wouldn’t have done it without support from the rest of his team.  Five other Heat players scored in the double digits, one of them being Mike Miller. Miller, suffering numerous injuries throughout his time with the Heat, had a huge game scoring 23 points and shooting 7-8 from the 3-point line. Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade added 24 and 20 points to the stat line as they blew the Thunder out early in the third quarter.

Looking at this season’s NBA finals, you can see that James was a different player on the court. In the beginning of the season James stated that last season he was playing the game as an angry man instead of having fun playing the game that he loves. With all the hate and criticism James received after The Decision, it’s understood that he played with a selfish and angry attitude directed at those that once admired him but now hated him.

In the series against the Dallas Mavericks, James was nearly invisible on the court, not participating on the offense or playing the way he normally does attacking the basket. This series and season proved different. James was more involved in the offense, passing the ball more and attacking the basket more often. His stellar performance in the season earned him his third league MVP trophy and he continued it into the post-season.

Many believed that when James joined the Heat, it was still going to be Dwayne Wade’s team. However as the roles slowly shifted, Dwayne Wade himself admitted that this was James’ team. Of course this was evident after his amazing 45 point performance against the Boston Celtics in Game 6 of that series, which forced the deciding Game 7.

Even after receiving his first NBA title Thursday night, James is not free of the criticism from the media and fans. When he arrived in Miami we all know what James promised to the ecstatic Miami crowd. Not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5. The now infamous statement is still lurking around James and the Heat even after they’ve won the title. The question now is can James and the Heat bring more championships to the city of Miami?

James is arguably the best player of this generation. He has earned his first title and is in an elite class of NBA players that have won a championship. At the age of 27, James will only get better and he is expected to add a few more championships under his belt. As this great NBA season comes to a close we can only look forward to what is to come next season.

The weather is getting hotter, summer outfits are coming out, and people are looking for the next hit single or album that will help define their summer. This time of the year hip hop artists are hard at work coming up with the next summer anthem that will draw fans and others to blast their album throughout the summer.

Hip hop is showing a trend where artists on the same record label come together as a group and release singles that express their dominance or what exactly their record label is about. Two groups that are leaving their mark on the hip hop scene now are Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group and Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music. Both of these crews are known for their strong line-up of artists and releasing constant heat to the public. With summer already here both crews are looking to rule the summer airwaves with their albums, Self Made Volume 2 and Cruel Summer.

With MMG’s Self Made Volume 2 releasing this coming Tuesday, Rick Ross and his soldiers look to follow up with their successful Self Made Volume 1. MMG dominated the summer of 2011 with hits like “Tupac Back”, “That Way”, and arguably the biggest track of summer 2011 “Ima Boss”, all coming from Self Made Volume 1. MMG’s success didn’t stop there. Solo efforts from Wale and Meek Mill proved that the MMG soldiers can handle their own without Rozay leading the way.

MMG looks to continue the success with Self Made Volume 2, with a new roster at hand. With Pill leaving the group early this year, Rozay added R&B crooner Omarion and Ohio native Stalley to the crew giving depth to the MMG roster. With the smooth singles “Bag of Money” and “Let’s Talk” MMG hopes to dominate the summer. Their next single “Power Circle” shows that they believe they are the top label and top crew in hip hop now.

Self Made Volume 2 isn’t the only album that MMG has in store for the summer. Rick Ross plans to release his fifth studio album, God Forgives, I Don’t in late July as well as Meek Mill’s debut album Dreams and Nightmares which is seeing an August release. With these albums releasing, the MMG camp seems to be looking at owning the summer. But another crew is looking to have the same success.

Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. music label is stocked with musical talent from Mr. Hudson to Pusha T to Kid Cudi. You can always expect a different sound from Kanye and his crew. This summer, G.O.O.D. music is looking to own the summer themselves with their eclectic sound off their Cruel Summer compilation album which is due out early August.

The first single from the album, Mercy, shows how Kanye believes his group is the best crew in the game at the moment. The single, with a sample off of Super Beagle’s classic reggae hit “Dust a Sound Boy”, was a hit amongst hip hop fans. With strong lyrics from everyone on the track, Kanye and company were letting everyone know that they aren’t here to play around.

The second single released by the crew, although not off the album, gives us an insight into what the crew has in store for the album. Chief Keef’s widely popular single “I Don’t Like” was remixed by G.O.O.D. music and it became popular in its own right.  With these two singles, fans can only wonder what’s next for the crew this summer before the album releases in August. Little is known about

features at this point but with the success of his past albums Kanye is sure not to disappoint.

Although MMG may be on pace to run the summer months of June and July, G.O.O.D. music can change all that with a spectacularalbum with strong singles. Only time will tell who truly owns this summer, but until that time comes let’s enjoy the great music coming from both of these heavy hitter crews.
